Frequently asked questions

What is the ESMA interim MiCA register?

Under Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 (MiCA), national competent authorities notify ESMA of crypto-asset white papers and authorised service providers. ESMA publishes a consolidated interim register while the permanent register is built. This tracker follows the Title II (OTHR) crypto-asset white-paper export.

How often is this tracker updated?

We re-ingest the ESMA export weekly. The date shown under “Data source” is the point in time the figures reflect. If a refresh fails, the last successful snapshot keeps being shown with its own date.

Why do the numbers differ from other sources?

Different trackers sample the register on different days, and the interim register itself is updated in batches. Small differences are almost always timing, not disagreement. This tracker always shows the date of the data it reflects.

Do I need to file a MiCA white paper?

Offering certain crypto-assets to the public in the EU can trigger a MiCA Title II white-paper obligation, with exemptions under Article 4. Use the free MiCA white paper check to see whether your offer is in scope before you rely on any register figure.
